The game replaces the turn-based combat seen in the original and uses a real-time combat approach similar to Final Fantasy 7 Remake. It’s a continuation of Persona 5 as the Phantom Thieves tackle a new threat on the road while enjoying a school break. Lastly, we have Persona 5: Strikers, a game that I initially thought didn’t have to exist but was glad it did after playing the game to completion. This off-road arcade racer has over 70 tracks across 10 locations, online multiplayer, and a four-player splitscreen option, something you don’t see everyday. We then have Codemaster’s Dirt 5, a racing sim released back in 2020 that provides the best experience if you’re into the rallying.

Players take on the role of space dwarves hired to mine and explore mineral-rich asteroids, but of course these expeditions are met with waves of hostile aliens, so it’s a balance between getting the job done and surviving as best as possible with a friend or three. Since the game’s official release two years ago, the game was only available on PC and Xbox until now.

The big surprise is 4-player co-op shooter Deep Rock Galactic’s debut on the PlayStation platform as a free offering through PlayStation Plus to start the year.

All of these games will be available for download starting on January 4 for both PS5 and PS4 owners. The PlayStation Plus subscription service starts 2022 strong as the free games offered for January 2022 are Deep Rock Galactic, Persona 5: Strikers, and Dirt 5.
